BRI has been actively involved in international collaboration. BRI has established good collaborative relations with national agriculture research institutions and universities in over 10 countries, such as the United State, France, Netherlands and so on. Relations have also been established with the Rockefeller Foundation, the European Union, Sweden International Science Foundation, International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI), International Potato Center (CIP), International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and other regional organizations. On the basis of equality and mutual benefit, research sharing and regard for intellectual property right, BRI has opened the door to collaborative research through the exchange of personnel and information.

The researchers were designated to study, attend conferences, pay scientific visit and offer expert service abroad, while the foreign experts were invited here for academic exchange. BRI received more than 500 foreign experts and officials in the past decade. The broad international cooperation significantly contributed to the important research achievements made in BRI and enhanced its development effectively.
