On March 20,the "China-Pakistan Crop Water Saving and Stress Tolerance Academic Forum and Cooperation Project Progress Report Meeting", hosted by the Institute of Biotechnology of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences(BRI, CAAS), was successfullyheld in Beijing by the form of the main venue combined with the online meeting.More than 20 expert representatives from China and Pakistan attended the meeting.

The theme of this conference is "Resource Sharing, Technology Exchange, Expanding Cooperation, Looking to the Future".Focusing on the challenges and opportunities faced by wheat and cotton under the condition of limited water resources, China-Pakistan experts respectively reported the latest research progress in developing climate-smart agriculture, especially in water-saving irrigation of crops.The two sides also discussed the progress and next plan of the two international cooperation projects established in 2021.To this end, the meeting purposed that, it is of great significance to ensure food security and social development by creating new drought tolerant cotton varieties and improving water use efficiency under the condition of limited water resources.
